Cedar strips canoe of the Gil Gilpatrick 16′ Laker design. Modifications to the design includes ash stem guards and scuppered inner gunwals. Hull materials include Western Red Cedar, Eastern White Cedar, and Alaskan Pine accent strips. Stems, gunwals, seats and yoke are ash.
F. Daniel Fry of Williamsport, PA, worked part-time over two years to complete his sailing dinghy from Paul Gartside's Riff design. Western red cedar strips were used to build her.
Steven Toedter used no plans to build this skiff for his 8-year-old daughter, Caitlin. Her instructions were to build it "strong." Constructed of Philippine mahogany plywood on clear Douglas fir frames, the boat is 7' LOA with a 3' beam.
The Shimaihagi is a traditional fishing boat used for inshore fishing in the Tohoku region of northern Japan. These boats are built without any plans, all of the dimensions are memorized by the builders.
Ray McConnell and John Vinal built this 9′6″ Nutshell Pram and then raffled it last October at the Damariscotta Pumpkin Festival. The proceeds of the raffle when to the American Cancer Society in memory of Dr. Jennifer Lynn McConnell.
When his grandchild Eden was born, Stan Swan started building her an Original Gloucester Rocker. After several more months than he anticipated, he finally finished it and presented it to one-year-old Eden on July 10th this year.
Miles Macedo of North Providence, Rhode Island, launched his 3′ rocker dory on Christmas Day, 2012. His grandfather, Rod Fuqua, built the boat with cedar planking and oak stem and transom.
With a design by Sam Devlin, owner Dan Taylor built this stitch and glue cruiser out of Okumo plywood. The cabin is finished with Doug fir and Alaskan yellow cedar. It took just over two years to complete with help from family and friends.
